Anambra state government, through its Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, said on Thursday that, the inauguration ceremony of the state’s governor-elect, Chukwuma Soludo, will last for just 20 minutes.
Adinuba also stated that, the March 17, 2022 ceremony, which will hold at the Government House, in Awka, the state capital, will be without any fanfare; and that the 20 minutes inauguration will not be opened to the public.
In the words of Commissioner Adinuba,
“The public, traditionally comprising entertainers and the rest, who cannot perform any useful roles, are not expected…”
“Only the outgoing governor, his wife, the incoming governor, Soludo and Soludo’s wife and a few others will be present at the venue.”
Adinuba also revealed that, the governor-elect “Soludo will wear canvas shoes made in Ogbunike; Akwuete clothes with the sleeves rolled up and a pair of jeans to show he is going to work.”
He said, finger foods, which Soludo will pay for, will afterwards be served to all the guests present at the occasion.
“Finger foods will be served which Soludo will pay for. He will also pay for media coverage from his pocket.”
Adinuba affirmed that, “The only thing government will pay for is security, if there is any need,” while also discrediting the story that ₦500m earmarked for Soludo’s inauguration has been mismanaged.
