54 Years Old Man Rescued From Suicide in Lagos

A 54 year old staff of Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, (LSDPC), who lives at No.1, Owodunni Street, Oworonsoki, Lagos, Mr. Akinlolu Ajayi, in a suicide attempt, has been rescued by the Nigerian Police Force from jumping into the Lagoon on the third mainland bridge.

 

In a Statement issued by the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu, which confirmed the incident, stated that, Mr. Ajayi was stopped from the suicidal attempt around the hours of 09:25, on September 15, by the anti-crime patrol team of the Bariga Police Division, while on routine patrol in the area.

 

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, reacting to the report said, Mr. Akinlolu Ajayi’s family should be contacted for necessary action, and appealed to members of the public, not to take their own lives, no matter the challenges they may be facing knowing that, such problems is only temporary.

 

CP Odumosu reiterated that, trying to kill oneself is not only morally wrong, but that, it is also a criminal offense.

 

Suspect Ajayi has however, according to the issued Statement, been transferred to the State’s Criminal Investigation Department,(CID), for further questioning and prosecution.
