70 Years Old Woman, Others, Arrested By NDLEA For Drug Offenses

Mrs. Beatrice Aigbedion, a 70-year-old native of Edo state, has been arrested in Irrua area of the state by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), with different variants of hard drugs; ranging from Codeine cough syrup, to Swinol, and Rohypnol.

 

Mrs. Aigbedion, who was nabbed on Wednesday, November 24th, was among the suspects arrested in Edo state, during which seizure of over 5,000 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs where seized.

 

Her arrests, and that of other members of the syndicate, was made possible after days of surveillance.

Luck ran against the drug cartel, when NDLEA stormed a suspected warehouse at Uhiere, Ovia North East Local Government Area of  Edo state, where cannabis sativa, weighing 4,261.5kg were recovered; and one Ikong Stanley, arrested.

 

Prior to this, 1,240kg cannabis was equally seized, also at a warehouse in Uzebba, Owan West LGA of Edo state on Tuesday, 23rd November.

 

Similar arrests involving Abdulkadri Zakari, 24, Ka’abu Sausu, 45, and Lawrence Adie, 27, was made in Lagos; during which 12,385 kilograms of loud cannabis, a strong variant of cannabis sativa, was seized.

The seized illicit drug, was reportedly imported from a neighbouring African country, and smuggled into Lagos, through the waterways.

 

Other seizures were in Delta, Yobe state, and Kano state respectively, where large kilogramme of different hard drugs were seized, and offenders nabbed.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, (Retd.) commended his officer for a job well done and for their patriotism; while also charging them not to relent in their efforts until the country is rigged of drugs.
