The University of Abuja, on Tuesday, November 2nd, has confirmed via its Facebook page, an attack on the staff quarters of the institution saying it is a sad day indeed for them.
According to the FB report issued by the school, it is stated that,
“Suspected bandits attacked the staff quarters of the University in the early hours of today,” as well as “our safety officers,” and other security personnel, securing the quarters.
“We have report that, four of our staff, and their children were, nevertheless, abducted by the evil men.”
“Efforts are being made to ensure their safe return. A sad day for us, indeed!”
The Abuja Police Force Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said, preliminary investigation revealed that, a number of “six (6) persons were allegedly abducted into the forest by the criminals.”
She added that, a combined team of the Police, and personnel of the Nigerian Army 176 Guards Battalion, have been swiftly mobilized, to protect the area, as well as, citizens.
Spokesperson Adeh also confirmed that, the attackers took to their heels on sighting the security operatives.
Among those reportedly kidnapped was a Professor of Economics, and two of his children.
