Abducted UniAbuja Staff Members Regain Freedom After Days In Captivity

Authorities of the University of Abuja have again, expressed joy on its Facebook page, over the recent rescue of members of its staff, from the hands of their abductors.

 

In a Statement written on FB, a member of staff of the University wrote: “Abducted U of A Staff: Free At Last!!!”

The Statement reads in part:

“My dear University Community. Our prayers have been accepted. Please join me in thanking God Almighty… As I write, we are on the road to fetch them, and get them immediate medical attention, to ensure they are sound and strong!…”

 

According to the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, (NPF), Abuja command, Josephine Adeh, ‘all the victims from the University of Abuja have been rescued and reunited with their families…’

 

Adeh said,

“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that all abducted victims of the university of Abuja were rescued, and reunited with their families, through a joint operation with other security agencies.”

 

SarahReports had earlier reported, how gunmen stormed the University of Abuja staff quarters on Tuesday, November 2, and whisked away six (6) persons; after which, a sum of N300 million was demanded by the kidnappers, as ransom for the release of their hostages.

 

While it is not clear if the said amount was paid, the abducted persons, among which included two professors, their family members, and some other members of staff, according to Police reports, regained their freedom few days after being in captivity.
