AFCON 23: Each Super Eagles player bags $30,000 for reaching quarterfinals

After successfully reaching the quarterfinals at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, team Super Eagles got the cool sum of $30,000 each.

The Nigerian team fought hard to get past the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, in the keenly contested match on Saturday night, to get to the quarterfinals.

Super Eagles however, finished second position in Group A, behind the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea at the ongoing tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.

According to sources, the previous arrangement the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), had with team Super Eagles, was for each player to be paid $5,000-a-match bonus to the final; but this was later reviewed with a lump sum payment for each round in the competition.

The team is also expected to get an additional bonus for the Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

Consequently, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Black Antelopes of Angola in their next quarterfinals fixture which will be held at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, on Friday.
