AFCON 23: Ivorian fans vandalize buses after team’s defeat

Fans of the Ivorian national team, expressed their displeasure after the team lost to the Equatorial Guinea in a 4-0 defeat at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Following the loss, angry fans of the Ivorian men’s national team nicknamed ‘the Elephants’ trooped out of the stadium destroying buses parked outside the premises.


AFCON 23, hosted by Côte d’Ivoire, has witnessed many surprises has many ‘big’ teams seem to be losing out in their last group stages matches.

However, despite the 4-0 defeat, suffered by the Ivorians in the hands of the Guineans, according to football analysis, the Ivorian team, through the best losers route, might still qualify for the round of 16, all things being equal. The Ivorian national team is therefore, still keeping their hopes alive in the ongoing AFCON 23.

Equatorial Guinea, on the other hand, is leading Group A with 7 points, same as the Nigerian national team, but the Guinean side is brighter with higher goals points.
