Alaafin’s Death: Hon. Gbajabiamila’s Chieftaincy Installation Crumbles … But 60th Birthday Plans May Still Go As Scheduled

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila’s proposed birthday plans and chieftaincy installation as the Aare Baasofin of Yoruba land, have been thwarted and stalled by the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died on Saturday April 23, 2022, and was buried same day according to Islamic rites.

Hon. Gbajabiamila’s Invite

Hon. Gbajabiamila, whose invites stating the modality of the two grand events have reached invited guests, has been heavily saddened by the news of Alaafin’s demise, especially for the singular reason that he is likely not to be installed as the Aare Baasofin of Yoruba land – the Supreme Legislative Guide for the Yoruba race, an honour bestowed on him by the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi before his death, and was supposed to be a part of the plans earmarked for his 60th birthday celebrations.

The event, scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Forecourt of Alaafin of Oyo’s Palace,  in Oyo state, is supposed to have the Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi as the  Royal Father of the Day; and the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Chairman of the Occasion; while Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, and K1 De Ultimate, would have been the entertainers of day.
