All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), governorship candidate, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has emerged the winner of the just concluded Anambra State elections, after a landslide victory over his opponents, even at the supplementary poll held in Ihiala Local Government Area, (LGA) on Tuesday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, Prof. Florence Obi, in the early hours of Wednesday, November 10, after announcing the results in Awka, Anambra State, declared Prof. Soludo winner of the Anambra state governorship election.
The newly declared governor Soludo, was said to have scored the highest number of votes, and won more than two-third of the election in 21 LGAs of the state.
Data collated after the election, showed that, Prof. Soludo won 19 out of the 21 LGAs in the state, with 112,229 votes, to lead his rivals Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), who had 53,807 votes, Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), with 43,285, and Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party, (YPP), took the fourth position with 21,261 votes.
Election results revealed the following:
Prof. Soludo got large number of votes in Awka South, with 12,871 votes, to defeat Valentine Ozigbo, who scored 5,498 and Andy Uba of the APC, who got 2,595 votes.
He also scored big in Anambra East with 9,746 votes, to defeat Andy Uba, who had 2,034 votes, and Ozigbo, with 1,380 votes.
Again, APGA candidate Soludo defeated APC Uba in Aguata LG, polling 9,136 votes, as against 4,773 polled by the APC candidate, and Ozigbo 3,798 votes.
In the Tuesday Ihiala LG polls, Soludo had 8,283 votes, to defeat PDP Valentine Ozigbo, who scored 2,485.
Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress, APC, gathered 343 votes, while Ifeanyi Ubah got 344 votes.
Consequently, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of APGA took the first position, PDP Valentine Ozigbo, second, APC Andy Uba, third, and Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party, (YPP), in the fourth position.
However, reports gathered has revealed that, APC’s agents at the collation centre, have refused to sign the result announced by INEC officials for undisclosed reasons; but it would be recalled that, Anambra state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Basil Ejidike, in a statement issued on Sunday night, of 7th November, has promised to resist the outcome of the election if APGA candidate Prof. Soludo wins, on the grounds that, “corrupt minded INEC officers, subverted the whole process in favour of APGA” among other allegations.
It is therefore not clear, if the state APC Chairman is making good his promise.
God still answers prayers. For me, that the election even took place was a miracle. That there was minimal or no violence is a super miracle. I do not care who emerged but that people are alive and not being killed… that is the miracle we prayed for. APC should head for court. No wahala. Congrats Anambrians! Congrats, Nigeria!
