Consequent upon the Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka James, alias Baba Ijesha alleged defilement of a minor some few months back, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of Ikeja Special and Sexual Offenses court, on Thursday, July 14th, has convicted and sentenced him (Baba Ijesha), to 16 years imprisonment for the alleged offense.
Justice Taiwo, the trial judge, found defendant (Baba Ijesha) guilty of four out of the six count charges he was being charged for.
The court found Baba Ijesha guilty of counts 2,3,4 and 5 which were:
Offenses on allegations of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration; while the prosecution could not prove counts 1 and 6 respectively, of Baba Ijesha’s offense, beyond reasonable doubt.
Following the proof of evidences before the court, Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka James, was therefore pronounced guilty of the sexual assault, which bothered on indecent treatment of a child, an offense contrary to Section 135 of Lagos State Criminal Law (2015).
The law stipulates that, “Any person who unlawfully and indecently deal with a child commits a felony and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for seven (7) years.
