Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, was another sad day for the people of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, as members of the Islamic State of West African Province, (ISWAP), launched multiple rocket attacks in the area, shortly before the arrival of President Buhari, who was on an official visit to the state.
President Buhari was said to be in the state just to inaugurate some projects championed by the state government.
However, ISWAP coordinated attacks started from Auno, the outskirt of the city, and the explosives fired by the militants, landed in several communities within the Maiduguri metropolis; while residents scampered for safety.
Although the number of people who lost their lives to the sad event is yet to be ascertained, reports gathered revealed that, about six persons died and few houses destroyed.
Despite the sad incident, the state Governor, Babagana Zulum, and other top government functionaries, were on ground to receive Mr. President, who arrived Maiduguri around 11am for the official visit.
