The Borno State Police Command, has welcomed a new Commissioner, Abdu Umar, to take over the State’s Police affairs.
CP Abdu Umar, who was recently appointed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba Ali, reported to his duty post at the Police Command headquarters in Maiduguri, on Tuesday, August 31, to replace the former CP of the State, Bello Makwashi.
The new CP, who confirmed to the press that, he reported to Borno State following the IGP orders, has since settled down to carry out his constitutional duties, among which are, the protection of lives and properties of citizens in the embattled State devastated by the activities of Boko Haram Insurgents/ISWAP since the last 12 years.
He however, promised to conscientiously serve the good people of the Borno State while not undermining the role of his officers, men of the State Police Command and the supports of the media.
CP Abdu Umar, opined that, he is aware of the happenings in the northeast, and added that, he is in the State “to serve all and sundry accordingly.”
He assured the people of Borno State, as well as media men that, he will operating an open door policy, which is useful and needed for information gathering and to enhance social interactions; which he believes the Police cannot efficiently serve without.
He also promised that the police would apply scientific approach, to tackle problems in the State while also promising that the State Police, under his leadership, will work assiduously toward eradicating all forms of crimes within the State by arresting and prosecuting perpetrators.
The new Police CP, again, reiterated his commitment to effectively enforce law and order and to work with all the security agencies in the State, especially now that Insurgents are daily laying down their arms and ammunition.
