In what seems like an unending lawsuit battle, the Federal High Court in Abuja, has finally vindicated the nation’s former Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun over the alleged NYSC discharged certificate forgery.
Adeosun who is a citizen of the United Kingdom (UK), was reported to have returned to Nigeria in 2003 at the age of 36; the age which according to the Nigerian constitution, has passed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
During the court proceedings, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, is quoted to have said that, by the time Adeosun returned to Nigeria, she was 36 and has already passed the age for the NYSC orientation program and consequently, does not need the NYSC certificate to hold any government position in the country.
The court also upheld that, although, Kemi Adeosun was a citizen of the United Kingdom, she is also a Nigerian by the 1999 constitution provisions.
