Following widespread criticisms of the ‘shoulder exposing’ pre-wedding dress of Zahrah Bayero, daughter of Emir of Kano, and the fiancée of Yusuf Buhari, Hisbah, a religious police known for sanctioning people for ‘immoral behaviors’ has banned people from sharing the pictures and videos online on the grounds that, it is sin.
Harun Ibn-Sina, Commander General of Hisbah, said, the Emir’s daughter is not above the law, and that she has failed to represent Islamic beliefs because of her ‘revealing’ dress. He added that, people who post or share pictures or videos of that images revealing her bare shoulders have sinned.
The Commander General, who spoke with BBC Pidgin, also said Zahrah should have lived by example if she wants blessings in her marriage.
“Emir daughter na muslim wey no dey above di law and suppose lead by example if she wan blessings for her marriage”, BBC Pidgin
We will remember that before now, Hisbah group, banned tailors, supermarkets and boutique owners from using mannequins to display clothes in the state and arrested, sanctioned people in Kano over different ‘offenses’ bothering on their religious beliefs.
