While the Abiodun’s family is still mourning, and planning for the funeral rites of their patriarch, Pa. Emmanuel Abiodun, father of the incumbent governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, some unscrupulous individuals have taken to the social media, in particular, the WhatsApp platform, to showcase ‘fake ankara’ purportedly chosen for the burial ceremony of the octogenarian.
To this, the Ogun state government has issued a statement to raise alarm over this false claims.
The statement, which was issued from the governor’s media office read,
“Social networks, especially WhatsApp Messenger, are awash with an image and news of an ankara fabric, purported to be the selected attire for the burial of Dr. Emmanuel Adesanya Abiodun, father of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR.”
Since the ‘fake news’ broke out from a deceitful source, some gullible Nigerians and party lovers have decided to fall for the gimmick.
The state government, in a swift reaction again, through the media office, has refuted the news as untruth saying, “This news being widely circulated is false and has no connection to the Governor or his nuclear and extended families. The general public should kindly ignore such information.”
The public is thereby warned, to desist from patronizing this suspected deceitful online ‘businessman/woman’ as the date and modalities for Pa. Dr. Emmanuel Abiodun’s funeral is yet to be publicly announced by the family.
Late Pa. Dr. Adesanya Abiodun, a.k.a ‘Baba Teacher’, was a native of Iperu-Remo and a renowned educationist. He passed on to glory on Monday, August 2nd, at the age of 89.
