Chief Ernest Shonekan, Former Interim Head Of Govt. Dies At 85

Chief Ernest Shonekan, the interim head of the Nigerian government between August 26, and November 17, 1993, is dead.

 

Shonekan died at a Lagos hospital, in the Lekki area of the state. He was aged 85.

 

The former Nigerian leader, Ernest Shonekan, succeeded the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida (Retd.), as the head of the Interim National Government, before he was ousted in a coup d’etat, led by the late General Sani Abacha.
