Chief Ernest Shonekan’s Funeral Service Holds In Lagos State

The final burial ceremony of late Chief Ernest Shonekan was rounded off with a church service at the Cathedral Church, Marina, Lagos state.

Chief Shonekan, 85, died at a Lagos hospital on 11th of January, 2022.

 

He was a British trained lawyer and an industrialist, who became the Head of the Nigerian Government between August 26, 1993, and November 17, 1993; before he was forced out of power in a coup, led by late General Sani Abacha.

 

Speaking at the event was Peter Jasper Akinola, the former Primate of the Anglican Communion of Nigeria, who lauded the virtues of the late octogenarian.

Akinola charged all present, to be God fearing and to be prepared for the life after now.

 

Present at the occasion were: Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, former president, Goodluck Jonathan, former military head of state, General Gowon.

Also present were, state governors, which include: Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state; Ogun state governor,  Dapo Abiodun; and Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, and other eminent Nigerians too numerous to mention.

 

Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan was survived by his wife, children, and family members.
