Nigerian Senators have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, to declare bandits as terrorists, and to deal with them as such.
Senators reached the conclusion during a plenary session on Wednesday, September 29, when about 10 lawmakers raised concerns about the growing spate of banditry in the country.
The Senators, while urging the President to deal decisively with bandits, also stressed that, arrested bandits should be prosecuted and left to face charges.
They enjoined the Buhari led government to provide relief materials for all victims of banditry and to address all humanitarian crisis spreading across different states in the country.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan, called on the Federal Government, to give adequate support to security operatives in their fight against all form of terrorism.
A minute silence was observed in honour of security officials and civilians, who have lost their lives to insecurity nationwide.
