Ese Brume Wins Nigeria’s First Medal in Tokyo 2020, Blessing Oborududu Follows With a Silver Medal

A 25 year old Nigerian athlete, Ese Brume, despite all the challenges faced by the Nigerian team in the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics tournament, has won the first medal for the Nigerian team.



The young athlete won the bronze medal on Tuesday after she qualified for the women’s long jump.

Brume who qualified for the finals two days earlier with a 6.76metres jump; eventually got a bronze medal after recording 6.97 metres jump in the finals, making her the first  Nigerian to win a medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 tournaments.



Blessing Oborududu, a wrestler, who also qualified for the final, has made the  country proud with a silver medal; while Odunayo Adekuoroye is another athlete the country is hopeful will win a medal.
