While Nigerians in different parts of the country are busy enjoying the Christmas Day celebrations, residents of Maiduguri, in the Borno state capital, were not so lucky as multiple explosions reportedly rock the city early hours of Christmas Saturday.
Reports gathered revealed that, not less than four bomb were detonated by insurgents in the state capital, on Saturday causing loud explosions.
Residents who were preparing for Christmas Day celebrations, scampered for safety during the sad incident; which reportedly happened around Cashew Plantation area, in the Polo General axis of the ancient city.
Earlier this week, precisely on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, shortly before the arrival of President Buhari to Borno state, members of the Islamic State of West African Province, (ISWAP), launched multiple rocket attacks in the Maiduguri metropolis, killing about six persons, and destroyed few houses.
It is however not clear which faction of the insurgents is responsible for the Saturday Christmas Day bomb blast, as sources credited the blast to Boko Haram militants and not to ISWAP.
Nevertheless, no one has yet been confirmed dead as at the time of filing this report.
