Feared Lagos Gas Explosion: Go About Your Daily Routine, Situation Now Under Control … NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), in a Statement issued on Wednesday, November 3, by its southwest spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye, has alerted Lagosians within Ikeja axis, to avoid using naked fire, or to open their shops, for fear of a gas explosion, following the report of a gas pipeline leakage in that part of the State.

 

According to NEMA,

“Distressed alert just received, indicates massive leakage of gas pipeline around these areas. Residents are advised to take safety precautions to prevent any form of disaster.”

 

The Agency reiterated,

“Residents around Computer Village, Underbridge Awolowo Way, Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, Medical Road, must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons.”

 

The affected areas listed by NEMA include:

Computer Village, Ikeja Underbridge end of Awolowo Way, Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, and Medical Road.

 

However, NEMA spokesperson Farinloye, in another statement, issued few hours later, has confirmed that, the gas leakage has been brought under control.

 

He advised people in the environs to go about their normal business without any fear since the situation has been brought under control.

 

Notwithstanding, officials are still on ground in the mentioned areas, diverting traffic and to ensure there is no occurrence of the anticipated explosion.
