FG Mandates Covid 19 Vaccination For Civil Servants, Sets December 1 Deadline

The Federal Government of Nigeria, has mandated the Covid 19 jab for all its civil servants.

The government said, civil servants who do not take the Covid 19 vaccine, must present a negative PCR test result or risk access to their office.

December 1st, 2021, has been sets has the deadline for the exercise by the FG.

Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Covid 19, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Boss Mustapha, announced this development, at a press briefing on Wednesday, in Abuja, the FCT capital.

He said,

“With effect from 1st December 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of Covid 19 vaccination, or present a negative Covid 19 PCR test result done within 72 hours, to gain access to their offices, in all locations within Nigeria, and our Missions.”

However, there is a growing petition against the FG, to ‘forcefully’ impose receiving the Covid 19 vaccine on its civil servants, against their wishes.

In a petition published by ‘Change.org,’ which already has over 2,000 appended signatures, in less than 12 hours of it publication, the group, behind the move, ‘Alliance Against Forced Vaccination’, condemned the FG’s stance on compulsory vaccination, saying, it is a ‘direct violation of Human Rights’ and that, “everyone has a right to choose, live and interact freely without prejudice and should not be forced by a vaccine mandate.”
