President Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered that the national flag be flown at half-mast, from Wednesday 12th to Friday 14th, January, 2022, in honour of late Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan, GCFR, who died in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a Lagos hospital.
Chief Shonekan, was the head of the Interim National Government, between August 26, and November 17, 1993.
He succeeded the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida (Retd.) and became the head of the government for barely a three month period before he was ousted in a coup d’etat led by the late Gen. Sani Abacha.
Chief Shonekan was aged 85 before his death.
