The National Security Council (NSC) on Thursday, announced the ban of motorcycles (okada) across the nation.
According to NSC, the ban of motorcycles across the country became necessary to curb activities of terrorists and to checkmate loopholes from which illegal arms and ammunition enter into the country.
The Security Council has also considered the ban of illegal mining activities across the states as it has been observed that there may be a correlation between illegal mining, proliferation of arms and terrorist activities.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami stated this while addressing state house correspondents after the meeting chaired by the President.
AGF Abubakar Malami however said, investigations are still ongoing, to establish the correlation between mining and motorcyclists activities which they suspect provide funding for the supply of arms to terrorists.
