Four (4) Children Poisoned By Step Mum In Yobe State, Three (3) Dead, One (1) Unconscious

A 22-year old woman, Khadija Yakubu has been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command for allegedly poisoning four (4) of her step children.

 

While three (3) of the children are reportedly dead, the only lucky one (1) among them remained unconscious.

 

The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdulkarim Dungus, who confirmed the incident in a press statement on Friday, September 17, said the four (4) children, after gulping the tea prepared by their step-mother, identified as Khadija Yakubu, in the early hours of Friday, were afterwards rushed to the hospital, were three of them were said to have died while receiving treatment.

 

PPRO Dungus said, it was Alhaji Haruna, the husband of the suspect and father of the deceased children that reported the incident at the Potiskum police station in Yobe State.

 

Officer Dungus who also stated that, the ugly incident happened around 9:00am Friday morning, and was reported at about 1:00pm, Friday afternoon.

 

He revealed the names and ages of the victims as Umar Haruna, aged 12, Maryam Haruna, 11, Ahmed Haruna, 9, and Zainab Haruna, aged 7.

 

The Police spokesperson said, investigation is on-going to unravel the mysteries behind the occurrence.
