Gov. Seyi Makinde To Announce The 42nd Olubadan On Valentines Day

Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said, he is ready to announce the new Olubadan on Monday, after receiving the name of the new Olubadan of  Ibadan land, and the letter of recommendation from the kingmakers.

 

“I have received letter from Olubadan in council, and on Monday, we will announce the new Olubandan of Ibadanland.”

 

Gov. Makinde said this, during the final burial ceremony of the late 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, 93, who died on January 2, 2022, the event held at the Liberty Stadium renamed Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, at Oke Ado, Ibadan in Oyo state.

 

Makinde affirmed that, despite the crisis that trailed the review of the Olubadan chieftaincy law, the endorsement of the kingmakers, ushered in a new Olubadan which he will gladly announce tomorrow being Monday, February 14, 2022.

 

He expressed joy that all issues surrounding the nomination of a new Olubadan was amicably resolved, which to him, mean victory for the people of Oyo state, and in particular, the indigenes of Ibadan land.

 

Gov. Makinde then thanked all who were present to witness the grand finale rites of the late Oba Saliu Adetunji, the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land.

 

The Governor said, the honour was not just for the late monarch, but also for the people of the pacesetter state.

“I thank you all for coming to honour our late monarch, Ibadan, and Oyo state at large.”
