Nigerian popular Nollywood actress, Kemi Afolabi, has revealed to pressmen that doctors have advised her to enjoy herself with her family, friends, and well wishers because she has just five more years to live after being diagnosed with lupus, “an inflammatory disease, caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues. Lupus can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.”
In Kemi Afolabi words, “I have lupus. It’s not curable. You just have to take medications for the rest of your life.”
She confirmed that, she has so far, paid N1.2m on treatment, which did not work; adding that she just have to continually endure pains associated with the disease.
The 43 years old wife, and mother of one, however thanked God for keeping her alive thus far, while also stating that, she had since her diagnosis, “written her will and booked a space with ebony vault” should anything suddenly happen to her.
The actress, spoke on how she was being taken from her private hospital to LASUTH, then to Army barracks hospital, and finally to LUTH where she had spent over three months.
Afolabi again quoted her doctor as saying, “Make sure you are with your loved ones. At least, you still have up to five years…”
