The national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has agreed with former president Olusegun Obasanjo that Nigerians are now sleeping with one eye closed.
Speaking on Monday during a chat with Arise News, Kwankwaso said, the military needs local people for intelligent reports that will lead them to criminal hideouts, but unfortunately, the locals find it difficult to tell authorities on what they know about terrorists because of the consequences of doing so.
According to Sen. Kwankwaso, terrorists may come and attack such a community, killing and destroying their homes, if they dare tell military personnel what they know about bandits (terrorists).
Senator Kwankaso, who was a former defense minister himself, also opined that, no matter how powerful the military may be, without intelligent reports from local confidants, they’re powerless; adding that apart from this, Nigeria military lacks what they need in terms of trainings, and equipment to function.
Commenting on the Abuja-Kaduna train attack, the former Kano state governor Kwankwaso expressed surprise that after the passengers attack, nothing tangible has been done afterwards to get the terrorists; and he feared this might happen again if the Buhari led government doesn’t do anything concerning this.
