Just In: ‘Lanre Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan Dies at 44

If you have ever heard the music “jagbajantis” you’re probably familiar with the man, Olanrewaju Fasasi popularly known as Sound Sultan. In a statement issued by his family early hours of Sunday 11, 2021. Sultan was said to have died while undergoing treatment for throat cancer.

Following Sultan’s death, the social media has been filled with comments about his untimely, unexpected death from both celebrities and other Nigerians. Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian known for activism said, “moments like this just make me wonder whether life itself is worth it.! Really hoped he was going to come and give us a testimony himself. … Every soul shall taste death. Sound Sultan has tasted his, remaining us.”

Also, the popular #EndSARS damsel, Rinu, said, “man supported #EndSARS, sang about bad governance, …taught us the only BODMAS that mattered…” She added, “but Sound, you promised to come back stronger. So wetin be this one now?”

Dr. Dipo Awojide, said, “Sound Sultan wasn’t about the bitches, money, cars and necklace. He sang about societal issues. Bad education. Corruption. Incompetence. Poverty. He challenged and criticized political leaders. He was a solid artist.”

Sound Sultan, a singer, songwriter, recording artiste, has many awards to his credit and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fan all over the world. May his sweet soul rest in peace.
