Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Executive Committee, NEC, is in Abuja for a crucial meeting, to discuss matters on zoning for the party’s chairmanship seat, and that of the national publicity secretary office.
While the Governor Ugwuanyi led Committee recommended that the chairmanship seat be given to a northern, some other members of the party prefer that the seat be given to a southern.
Another debate amongst the party’s members is that, if the chairmanship seat goes to the north, then the position of the national publicity secretary should come to the south; and Vice-versa.
However, the PDP’s NEC has promised not to stand in the way of the consensus reached at the meeting.
Speaking at a pre-event press briefing, Senator Walid Jibrin, the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, appealed to the party leaders, to put national interest and the survival of PDP, as a party, ahead of personal interests in the course of the the crucial meeting.
