Kenya Ambassador to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, Dies In Abuja

Kenya High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Wilfred Machage, has died.

 

Machage died mid hours of Saturday, February 19, 2022, after he collapsed at his Abuja, Nigeria home before his family members.

 

Confirming the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement released shortly after the incident, said, “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to announce the sudden death of Hon Dr. Ambassador Wilfred Machage, Kenya High Commissioner to Nigeria, and accredited to 12 other countries in Central and Western Africa which occurred today.”

 

“Ambassador Machage collapsed at home, and was pronounced dead at hospital, shortly thereafter at around 12.30pm this afternoon in Abuja, Nigeria. His wife was with him when this unfortunate incident happened.”

 

Amb. Macharia Kamau, Kenya’s Principal Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in his reaction to the news said, “the Ministry, and the country had lost a dedicated and committed leader.”

 

Ambassador Machage was appointed High Commissioner to Nigeria by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2018.
