Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly called Evans, notorious for kidnapping, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
A High Court seating at Ikeja, in Lagos state, sentenced Evans and two other allies of his, Uche Amadi, and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, to life imprisonment bothering on criminal conspiracy and kidnapping after finding them guilty of the offenses.
Justice Hakeem Oshodi gave the sentence after an overwhelming evidences found against the three kidnappers.
Evans, who had made fortune from kidnapping, showed no sign of remorse after being sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Lagos state government had arraigned Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, nicknamed Evans and some others before the court on February 14, 2017 for allegedly kidnapping one Mr. Donatus Dunu, the Managing Director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Limited along Obokun Street, in the Ilupeju area of Lagos state.
Evans and his accomplices, after the successful abduction of Mr. Dunu, detained and collected a ransom of 223,000 euros for his release.
It was this ‘operation’ that led to the arrest of Evans and co since 2017, with the result of life imprisonment.
