An Anambra 48-year-old man, Igbo Thomas, in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, has been remanded at the Awka Correctional Centre in the State over alleged defilement of his three biological daughters in Enuoji village, Anambra state.
Igbo Thomas, who confessed to the crime but blamed it on alcohol influence, was confirmed arrested on May 24, 2021 by the Anambra Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Okolo Ani village Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. The NSCDC Commandant, Vincent Ogu, however, ordered a discrete investigation into the matter before the suspect would be charged accordingly.
In a statement on Wednesday 28th, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Okadigbo Edwin, said the suspect (Thomas) has been eventually arraigned at the High Court, Awka and was remanded at the Correctional Centre by the Judge following conclusion of the investigation.
Okadigbo Edwin said: “It will be recalled that on 24/5/2021 Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command arrested one Mr. Igbo Thomas ‘m’ of Okolo Ani village Igbo Etiti LGA Enugu State for allegedly having canal knowledge of his three daughters.
“Upon conclusion of thorough investigation, the suspect was arraigned at the State High Court Awka and has been remanded at Awka Correctional Center by the Judge.”
The victims of the molestation has since been taken to hospital for medical examination.
