Oluchi Okoye, alias, PACA, a resident of Lagos State, has been arrested by police officers from the Denton Police Station, Ebute-Metta, for holding hostage one Mr. Reuben Alozie over an unpaid N4.6m debt.
In a video, Mr. Alozie was seen tied to a stake lamenting, while Mr. Okoye tried explaining to security operatives, the reasons for the ‘senseless’ action.
In a statement by the Lagos State Police spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu, on Friday, it was revealed that,
“the suspect (Mr. Okoye) tied the victim, (Mr. Alozie) to a stick, with ropes at No. 29, Abeokuta Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos; from 22nd September to 23rd September, before he was eventually rescued by the police.
Police spokesperson Ajisebutu said, the suspect, Mr. Okoye, resorted to self-help, after several efforts to recover his money from Mr. Alozie, who is the victim, failed.
He confirmed that,
“The arrest of the suspect, was made possible, following a complaint lodged at the station by the victim’s wife, Angela Reuben, who reported that her husband was deprived of his liberty by the suspect who held him hostage.
Ajisebutu added that, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed an investigation into the case.
“Following the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu directed that the suspect should be transferred to the Command’s Tactical team for diligent investigation and prosecution.
He reiterated the Commissioner’s stance on such happenings in the State, advising people never to take laws into their hands but rather, legal actions should be taken for justice to prevail.
