A mother of a-five (5)-year old victim of rape, in Rumuekini in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state has cried out for help over the alleged defilement of her daughter by one Mr. Bright Ekwueme.
Speaking to newsmen in Port-Harcourt, the state capital, the distraught mother of the victim said, thugs were hired to beat her up for dare reporting the case.
She confirmed that the 5 years old daughter of hers, has already been taken to the hospital for examination and treatment.
She called on government, human rights groups, and all Nigerians, to come to her aid so that justice will be served.
Meanwhile, the Rivers state chairman for the committee for defense of human rights, Paul Amadi, advised the state’s police not to compromise in the investigation; even while waiting for the outcome of the girl’s medical report.
Amadi also advised the police, to transfer the case to the state’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID), for proper official treatment.
The accused, Bright Ekwueme, is still cooling his heels in police custody.
