Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have again, arrested 663 drug traffickers and users in a joint operation across the country.
Among those arrested were: a soldier, a fake police man, a Corp member; all in possession of different drug substances.
In a Statement issued by NDLEA Spokesman, Femi Babafemi, drugs weighing 153,256.9 kilogrammes were gathered during the raids in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Benue, Kwara, Ekiti, and some other parts of the country.
Areas in Lagos invaded by NDLEA were: Akala and Idi-oro, both in Mushin area of the State. Others were: Maryland, Ojo, Okota, Oshodi-Isolo environs and other notorious drug joints. The operation was carried out on Friday, October 15, by 70 NDLEA operatives and 30 soldiers from the Nigeria Army in what was tagged, ‘Operation Still Waters.’
While the fake police officer, Joshua Yusuf, who claimed to be a serving assistant superintendent in Kano state was arrested in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja, the Corp member identified as Paul Ndubisi, was arrested alongside six others in Benue state. The self-acclaimed soldier, Abel John, was nabbed in the Apir-Makurdi-Aliade road, also in Benue state.
NDLEA boss, Retd. Brigadier General Buba Marwa has commended his officers and enjoined them not to rest on their oars in eradicating drug menace in the country.
