Oby Ezekwesili Condemns Ladipo Market Shooting, Calls for Investigation

Dr. (Mrs.) Obiageli, a co-convener, Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), a former minister of education, a onetime Vice-President of World Bank’s programme in Africa, among many other achievements, has added her voice to the senseless use of fire arms by men of the Nigerian Army at the popular Ladipo Spare Parts market, Mushin, yesterday.

Reports gathered confirmed that the incidence that witnessed the death of a man, has generated widespread condemnation from Nigerians across the country.

Adding to the masses outcry, Oby Ezekwesili, as she is mostly called, in her complaints to the @DefenceInfoNG and @HQNigerianArmy on her social media handle, said “have just seen this and wonder why your men have chosen this approach against civilian population. I call for investigation of the incident and sanction of those who unleashed such violence in the Ladipo Spare Parts Market. End such behaviour”, she added.

During a visit to the troubled spot today, it was observed that, while normalcy is gradually returning to the market, skeletal services are still being rendered. Many shop owners are yet to open their shops for either sales or services, in what seem like a show of solidarity, to mourn the death of their colleague.

We will recall that, a part of the fairly used Spare Parts market was recently destroyed by fire outbreak.
