Ohaneze Ndigbo Mourns As Anambra State Loses Former First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Njideka Ezeife

The entire Ohaneze Ndigbo, has announced the death of one of their illustrious daughters, Chief (Mrs.) Njideka Ezeife, who died in USA, during the week.


Chief (Mrs.) Njideka Ezeife, was the wife of the former Anambra state Governor, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

Madam Ezeife died while planning a return trip to Nigeria, scheduled for December 13, 2021.


She was said to have suddenly became sick a day before the trip, and then died.


Announcing her sudden death is the Igbo Elders Council, in an issued statement, signed by the Council’s Secretary, Professor Charles Nwekeaku.


The Statement reads in part:

“With great pains and total submission to the will of God, I write to inform our distinguished Igbo elders of the transition to the great beyond of Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Njideka Ezeife, the former first lady of Anambra State and wife of our Chairman, His Excellency, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife after a brief illness in the United States of America.

“Mrs Ezeife, who was scheduled to return to Nigeria on December 13, 2021, suddenly became sick a day before her trip and couldn’t make it.

”May God grant her soul a perfect peace, as well as His Excellency, Dr Ezeife and other members of his family the fortitude to bear her irreparable loss.

“Our members are enjoined to commiserate with the Ezeife family and remember them in prayers.” 


In similar reaction, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, in a statement on Wednesday, signed by the Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, expressed shock over her death and commiserated with the husband of the deceased, Chief Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, as well as the entire Ezeife’s family.


Ohanaeze Ndigbo, prayed God grant her soul eternal rest.
