The Ooni of Ife, the Arole Oduduwa, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, through the House of Oduduwa Worldwide, is inviting the public to the grand finale of the annual ‘Moremi Ajansoro beauty pageant.’
This is according to the Statement released by the Director, Media & Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Comrade Moses Olafare, the now annual pageant event, was is the Ooni’s idea which is meant to “institutionalize the celebration of the iconic Yoruba woman, Queen Moremi Ajansoro,” who came to prominence “for offering herself for the libration of humanity.”
The event which is scheduled for Sunday, December 5, 2021, by 5:00pm, at the Ife Grand Resorts, in Ile-Ife, Osun state, is expected to “host top dignitaries in the academic, cultural, economy, and industrial sectors of Nigeria, with prominent entertainers already invited to thrill the amazing audience.”
No fewer than fifteen (15) contestants have been shortlisted as the top finalists, from among the one hundred, (100), applicants, narrowed down to forty (40), then to the top fifteen, (15).
The selection process, which was done by veteran Nollywood artistes, namely: Peter Fatomilola, Yemi Solade,Jaye Kuti,Yinka Salau and others, was said to be transparent, perfect and applauded all.
Apart from the beauty pageantry, various programmes have also been earmarked for the event, among which is the “opening of Ile-Ife market to global community.”
