Anambra state governor elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has apologised to residents of the state, and other guests present at his inauguration ceremony, for the face off that ensued between Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the outgoing governor, Willie Obiano, and Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, the former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, and the widow of late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Former Governor of Eastern Region.
In a statement on Thursday, signed by Prof. Soludo’s Media Aide, Joe Anatune, it was stated that, the swearing in ceremony was disrupted, when Mrs. Obiano approached Mrs. Ojukwu and muttered some unpleasant words to her which led to the fisticuffs and scuffle.
Other sources said, the breach was not only as a result of improper communication between the two Madams, but also a personal disagreement that has been between them before today.
The unfortunate incident however, drew attention to the duo and for the quick intervention of security officers, the matter would have escalated.
“Sadly, the fight took the shine off the main event of the day,” but “steps are being taken to resolve the misunderstanding and restore the parties to their previous relationship,” Anatune added.
Soludo’s spokesman also testified that, “Anambra state has over the years, been known for a huge stock of social harmony, and the stock will increase substantially in the years ahead as part of the concerted effort to accelerate the state’s development.”
