Prof. Utomi Steps Down for Ex Gov. Peter Obi to Emerge the 2023 Presidential Candidate of LP


Political economist, Professor Pat Utomi, has stepped down for Mr. Peter Obi, to emerge the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP).

 

Prof. Utomi made his decision to step down for Mr. Obi known  at the party’s presidential primary held in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday, May 30.

 

Utomi said his decision is a way of paving way for a younger aspirant, who can effect the needed changes in the Nigerian system.

Prof. Utomi stated, “Obi must be given the opportunity to govern this country;” adding that, “the liberation of Nigeria has begun with the LP primary.”

 

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra state, was the running mate of Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Obi was also a presidential aspirant under PDP before he recently withdrew from the PDP shortly before the primary election to join the Labour Party.

 

The goodnews however is that, the ex Anambra state governor, Peter Obi, has finally emerged as the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
