Sunday Igboho Cannot Leave Cotonou Now … Yomi Alliyu (SAN)

Despite the jubilation over the release of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho on Monday, another statement shortly afterwards issued by his Counsel, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN), revealed that, Igboho may not be leaving Cotonou, Benin Republic soon; he is to remain in the country for now.

According to Alliyu’s statement issued from Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, Sunday Igboho was only released to his medical practitioners, “under the agreement that he should not leave the medical centre or Cotonou for any reason.”

Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN) however praised Prof. Wole Soyinka and Prof. Banji Akintoye for their efforts so far in the matter.

He said,

“Praises should be given to two prominent Yoruba personalities Prof. Wole Soyinka and Prof. Banji Akintoye, for this turnaround in our client’s matter.”

News of Igboho’s release filtered through the news media on Monday, when the spokesperson of llana Omo Oodua, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye issued a press statement that the “Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called Sunday Ighoho, has been released by the Government of Republic.”

Nevertheless, subsequent reports gathered confirmed that, the self determined Yoruba agitator, was only released to his medical practitioners on health grounds, and that he is expected to remain in Benin Republic.
