Contrary to the rumoured news reports that Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state was down with stroke, and had been rushed to India for treatment where he eventually died, the Imo state government has debunked the news as fake.
In a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, it was clearly stated that Gov. Uzodinma “is not only hale and hearty, but has been energetically attending to all his scheduled activities in the nation’s capital, Abuja.”
For emphasis, Emelumba said,
“His Excellency attended a meeting with the president, alongside other All Progressives Congress (APC ) governors this morning. As I speak, he has entered another party meeting with other stakeholders ahead of APC’s convention.”
“So I don’t really know what those concocting this rumour want to achieve, because Gov. Hope Uzodinma was not afflicted with any challenge that would have led to a stroke,” Emelumba added.
The state government therefore considered the rumoured news as “unfounded, wicked and a mindless fabrication.”
