Veteran Nollywood Actor, Chief Larry Williams, Dies At 81

Veteran Nollywood actor, who featured in many soap operas, such as: The Village Headmaster, Ripples, and Mirror in The Sun, among many other numerous homes videos, died in the early hours of Sunday, February 27, 2022, at his hometown in Ikom, Cross River State, after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.

 

His death was made public in a statement issued by his family shortly after his demise. It reads in part:

“He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Burial arrangements will be announced soon.”

 

Larry Williams, during his life time, was not only a screen actor; but he was also a poet, a playwright and a celebrated live theatre actor with a prestigious national honour of the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic to his credit.

 

The late octogenarian Williams, who got the national honour in 2008, was also the first president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, a position he held for over five (5) decades.

 

Larry Williams studied Journalism at the London School of Journalism. After which, he proceeded to study English at Morley College, in the United Kingdom.

 

His love to acquire knowledge, made him study drama again, at the Mountview Theatre School and Stratford E15 Acting School, in England, UK. This was what ushered Chief Larry Williams to become a professional actor ever after before he died.
