VP Osinbajo Graced Kumuyi’s Book Presentation, Lagos State Gov. Sanwo-Olu, Others

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has advised Christian religious leaders across the country to be diligent in paying their tax and to share their stories with the society to make it better place.

 

Yemi Osinbajo, gave this advice at the public presentation of the book titled “Kumuyi: Defender of the Faith”, the biography of Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, held on Friday, September 17, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

 

In a Statement issued by Vice President Osinbajo’s media aide, Mr. Laolu Akande, quoted the Vice President to have said,

“Every person, especially those who succeed in their endeavours owe society three forms of tax. The first is Income tax; personal income tax. The second is a Social tax, another name for that is philanthropy; the obligation of the wealthy or simply those who have to give back to society. The third tax is a Civic tax…

“But for the successful preacher of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, there is a fourth tax. This is the Pentecost tax… it is one that men and women who preach the gospel must pay…

 

Osinbajo added that, Kumuyi’s biography is a continuation of the baton handed over to our own generation since Pentecost as exhibited by the Apostles in the book of Acts. He summarized the book “Kumuyi: Defender of the Faith”, as the work of a man who allowed the Holy Spirit to work through him since the establishment of his ministry in 1973.

 

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who also spoke at the event, lauded the book and the person of Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, whom he described as a lover of God, one who is diligent, humble, and simple.

He said,

‘Kumuyi: Defender of the Faith’, is a very apt way of summing up the life and service of this particular God’s general…

He added,

“…We thank you for permitting the writing and publication of this biography, and for sharing your story with the world. There is much to be learnt from your life, and, for you, there is also much more ahead to be accomplished”

 

The keynote address, was given by the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Rt. Revd. (Prof.) Dapo Asaju, who is also an Anglican Bishop.

 

 Prof. Asaju who emphasized on the importance of biographies, also used the opportunity to tell Christian leaders in particular, Pastor Kumuyi, Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), to meet with President Buhari, in order to find solutions to security challenges, corruption, and economic challenges bedeviling the country.

 

Soft spoken Pastor Kumuyi, for whom everyone gathered, thanked guests at the event and encourage Nigerians, especially Christians, to see to it tha,t their impacts are positively felt before they live planet earth.

 

The occasion was graced by eminent personalities and other members of the church.
