After been licensed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC), the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, (ABUAD), has finally come up with a herbal drug, considered to be ideal for the treatment of the deadly Covid 19 virus.
According to the statement earlier released by ABUAD’s Director, Corporate Services, Tunde Olofintila, it was affirmed that, NAFDAC approved the production of the herbal product in the letter signed by the Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola C. Adeyeye, dated “December 17, 2021, with Index Number 210819, Serial Number 0000177510, and NAFDAC Listing Number A7-100180L.
Consequent upon the approval, the ‘ABUAD Herbal Virucidine Liquid’, which is said to be an immune booster, and an antioxidant for Coronavirus, and other viral infections, was therefore produced.
The herbal mixture, is also said to be useful, as an anti-inflammatory agent.
The founder of ABUAD, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, at an event held in Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday, to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the establishment of ABUAD, testified about the effectiveness of the herbal medicine.
According to Chief Babalola, the drug had been tested on some Covid 19 patients, and all recovered.
He said, those who were administered with the drug, were “healed perfectly” in “less than five days of usage.”
Chief Babalola emphasized that, since the discovery, approval, and production of the medicine, a good number of people cured by the drug had increased.
He recalled how the research department of the university, since inception 12 years ago, had made meaningful discoveries, projected at solving socio-economic problems of the country.
The 92 years old Chief Babalola, confirmed how through extensive research, the university’s team of researchers produced the herbal drug that has already healed about “about 19 patients who contracted the Covid-19 virus.”
He expressed joy over the fact that ABUAD is “going from strength to strength, making exploits in all endeavors” since the establishment of the institution; adding that, ABUAD vision is to make the university a teaching, research, and community service oriented school.

The vision and determination of the proprietor and chancellor is truly outstanding and commendable. He has equally been able to garner the talents he needs to build and sustain a world class university. This is the kind of example that gives the assurance that African can attain a civilizational breakthrough if the requisite leadership is provided or available.
