ASUU: Strike Necessary To Make Govt Do The Needful

The National Executive Council, (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), is planning an indefinite strike if the federal government refused to do what was promised the Union.

ASUU said to avoid the total paralysis of academic activities in all universities across the country, the FG, is advised to do the needful, adding that, if the university system is made better, it is for the good of all – students and their parents.

The indefinite strike, which will start after a-one-month warning strike, will be agreed upon by the Union after due considerations.

According to sources, ASUU’s demands include: “payment of Earned Academic Allowance, revitalisation fund, the replacement of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, (IPPIS), which should be done with the University Transparency and Accountability System, (UTAS)” among other legitimate demands.
