How First Year Student Of OAU, Heritage Ajibola Met Her Painful Death In Her Hostel

An unfortunate incident involving a first year student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, in Osun state happened on Wednesday, January 9, 2022, when the fresh student of the campus fell into a soak away pit within the hostel she was lodging and died.

The student, Heritage Ajibola, was a student of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, this is according to the statement issued by the OAU students’ union president, Ogunperi Taofeek Olalekan.

 

Narrating the incident, Olalekan said, the ugly incident occurred at her Hostels on Wednesday afternoon due to the negligence of the hostel owners.

 

The students’ union leader Olalekan, put the blame of the regrettable incident on lack of proper construction of the soak away the student fell into despite the huge amounts of money paid by students for rent.

 

Olalekan commiserated with the family, and friends of late Heritage Ajibola, as well as her course mates and the inhabitants of Bver hostel.

He prayed God give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

Students Union President Olalekan added that, the OAU Students Union is demanding justice for Heritage, and that the management of the Bver hostel must answer for the death of the student.

Olalekan said this is necessary to forestall future recurrence of such terrible episode.

 

Meanwhile, the OAU authorities, has also reacted to the death of Heritage Ajibola; but students of the institution feared that, justice might not be served Heritage because, according to the students, “the management of OAU has no interest in justice but in condolences”, which has become a common phenomenon in the school.

 

However, glowing tributes has poured in for the late first year student, Miss. Heritage Ajibola, who lost her life to mere negligence on the campus.
