The renowned virologist and the Head of the Virology Laboratory, where Covid 19 tests are done in Oyo state, Professor Olufemi David Olaleye is dead from an undisclosed ailment.
SarahReports.com gathered that until the Professor’s death, he was actively involved in the Oyo state Covid 19 efforts and sensitization of people on the need to take the Covid 19 vaccine (jab).
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, is among the early mourners of the late Prof. He described his death has a great loss to Nigeria, the academic body and the people of Oyo state.
Makinde said Olaleye served humanity, Oyo state and the country to the best of his abilities. His said his expertise in the virology will be greatly missed.
SarahReports.com gathered from a close source, that Prof. David Olaleye died few hours ago from a yet to be confirmed ailment.
Our source said, Prof. Olaleye was sick on Saturday and swiftly taken to the hospital. He was confirmed ‘fully recovered’ by midnight, but by early hours of Sunday 25th , he developed other complications and eventually bid planet earth goodbye.

“He got me into the training activities of the Medical Education Partnership Initiative in Nigeria (MEPN)” an initiative led by him. He was also a generous man, a passionate leader with a tremendous capacity for long hours of work, meetings and coordination/leadership.
Until Professor Olaleye’s death, he was the Head of Clinical Virology Laboratory where Covid 19 tests are being conducted and also a lecturer at the famous and foremost University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo state.
SarahReports.com also gathered that the Professor of virologist, championed several projects in Nigeria, one of which is the Covid 19 Perception Study in Oyo state in 2020.
Olaleye was likewise known for the roles he played in educating and sensitizing eminent personalities on the need to get the Covid 19 jab of which he promised to get many that wish to get the jab vaccinated as soon as the second batch of the Covid 19 arrive Oyo state. A promise he did not wait to fulfil. “Let us wait for delivery of the second batch of the vaccine’’ Prof. Olaleye was quoted to have said shortly before his unexpected demise.
Professor David Olaleye, will be missed, not only by members of his family, but also by the University Of Ibadan community, Oyo State and by Nigerians.
