The newly appointment Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, has called on all, to join him make the foremost institution ‘a global first-rate University.’
Prof. Adebowale said this in a Statement released shortly after his inauguration as the newly elected 13th VC of the premiere University of Ibadan, on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
The obviously elated VC, again, called on all, to shelve their grievances, and to embrace forgiveness useful for rebuilding ‘fractured relationship and to calm strained nerves’, adding that, ‘we are sisters and brothers.’
He thanked the Council of the University of Ibadan, all stakeholder in the UI project, global friends and well-wishers, and every other person, who have in one way or the other, supported him during the ‘long battle’ for the race of the Vice Chancellorship; with an addendum that, ‘not I alone that you supported; rather it was the University of Ibadan, our heritage, that you supported.’
He promised to serve the institution better, and to lead the process of ‘fence mending’ needed for a healthy and robust relationship in the University community.
Kayode Oyebode Adebowale is a Professor of Chemistry; a fellow of the Nigerian Academic of Science, an alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, among many other achievements. He became the 13th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
